Hello faithful readers of the Newell family adventures. I want to thank those of you who have kept up with us since our early webpage beginnings in 2000 when we left for Bolivia. It's hard to believe that 12 years have passed since that time. Thanks for being a part of our lives as we have journeyed from the Andes Mountains, to the Arizona desert and now to the beautiful hill country of Texas.

Winter
It has been a good year so far(all 6 weeks of it) for our family. Many things have been going on in our hearts and we would love to share these things with you. Maybe in a later post I can share more of what the Lord is doing in each of us and around us. Pretty exciting!
This winter has come and gone here in Austin. Only in Texas (maybe Oklahoma, too) can it snow one day allowing you to enjoy a snowball fight with your next door neighbor and then 2 weeks later it's warm enough to wear shorts and a t-shirt outside. Personally, I would love more of that cold, snowy weather... it puts a smile on my face! I have a feeling the coldest days have come and gone. I guess I'll just have to enjoy these beautiful days outside playing with my kids with shorts and t-shirts and barefoot. Come on down all you Sycamoron friends! Escape the icy, snowy, freezing blast of the North. You are all welcome anytime! We celebrated Dottie in December. We are so thankful for her life and we are especially grateful that we live only 1 1/2 hours away so we can see her beautiful face often. We love you Dottie!

A Christmas Eve stroll around the block in the Foxes neighborhood in Bryan. We enjoyed a quiet, peaceful Christ-centered Christmas with B, Grandad and Dottie.

Christmas smiles! On our way to the Christmas Eve service.

Snuggles on Christmas morning.

Lily and Grandad at Jesus' Birthday party.

Can you recognize the cast? It's hard to figure out who is who with these incredible costumes on for the nativity play. My personal favorite is the shepherd and his staff(a plastic golf club) and his sheep (a white stuffed animal dog).
The "wisegirl" getting off her camel to give Jesus gifts.

Silas and Lily love spending time with Grandad in his shop working on fun projects.

An evening of reading in front of the cozy fire. We enjoyed a couple of weeks of cold nights warming up in front of the fire.

The ONE day of snow this year in Austin. Yipppeeee!!!! It was like waking up to a winter wonderland with a centimeter of snow on the ground. We felt like it was Christmas as we played outside, made a yummy pancake breakfast, then went outside again to have a snow ball fight with Mitch, our next door neighbor. Lily didn't have school and Pete stayed home from work for a couple of hours. All because of a little snow... can you believe it Northern friends?!

Not sure what the theme of this outfit is, but Joe sure looked cute with Lily's school shoes on, Lily's hat and red sweater and a superman cape. Nice!
Lily turned 6!!! Yesterday (Feb. 16) was her birthday and she had a great day celebrating all day beginning in the morning with a little party with the family, then off to school with a little party at recess with cupcakes, then another party for dinner! We can't believe 6 years have gone by since we held this little one in our arms for the first time. She has been a beautiful gift from God and we are so blessed by her sweet spirit, her love for God and others, her kind heart toward her brothers, her compassionate ways and her sense of humor and readiness to have fun. We love you so much Lily!!!
Daddy posing with Lily and Silas before the birthday lunch to P-Terry's, a local burger joint. Lily was kind to invite Silas to her special date with Daddy.
